A Seal of Biliteracy for Everyone

Whether you learned your language in a classroom, at home, or through other experiences, a Seal of Biliteracy celebrates your accomplishment and certifies your language proficiency in two or more languages. A Seal of Biliteracy is generally awarded in the form of a certificate and can be used as a credential for academic and employment purposes.

The Global Seal of Biliteracy™ is a certification that celebrates language skills and expands future opportunities for its recipients. A uniform standard is used to empower our awardees to be a valuable asset in multilingual environments. We are committed to providing access to language certification to anyone that can demonstrate their bilingualism via testing.  The Global Seal of Biliteracy enables recipients to showcase their language skills to any school or employer across state lines and national borders, with a unique serial-numbered document.

Proficiency in multiple languages has tremendous value in today’s global economy. According to Ipsos Public Affairs, over 90% of surveyed employers cite a strong and growing demand for foreign language skills. The Global Seal of Biliteracy’s powerful three-step pathway recognizes the value of differing levels of language fluency. Each certification level serves a meaningful purpose in our increasingly diverse communities and leads to stronger intercultural relationships. Whether you are at the Functional Fluency™, Working Fluency™, or Professional Fluency™ level, your Global Seal certificate will open doors.

Where is the Global Seal of Biliteracy?

The Global Seal of Biliteracy has certified thousands around the world for their bilingual language skills at one of our three levels of certification as evidenced through proficiency-based testing. Our recipients represent a diverse group of language learners and we've created a statistics page to give some insight into who our recipients are.

CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR PROFICIENCY LEVEL?

The Global Seal of Biliteracy has developed a free adaptive self-assessment based on the commonly used NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. These can-do statements are reflective of an individual’s language ability based on the ACTFL Levels of Language Proficiency.

Not only will they be awarded an official Seal of Biliteracy at our private school, but they will cross state and national boundaries, as this Seal is greater than just a state level recognition, connecting their accomplishments to the global community.”
